Veteran's Program

In September 2009, in support of Rebuilding Together National’s Veterans Initiative to support more veterans in need, Rebuilding Together Seattle (RTS) launched an exclusive Veterans Program. RTS thanks the WA Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) and Veterans Conservation Corps for their support of our new program.

Millions of U.S. veterans are in desperate need of repairs and adaptations to their homes. The RTS Veterans Program was created to meet the growing needs of veterans (and their families) from past and present wars. With the support of sponsors and volunteers, RTS strives to provide safe and accessible housing for all low-income veterans and their families.


Facts & Figures:

  • More than 6.9 million veterans are disabled
  • More than 4.3 million veterans have a combined family income of less than $20,000.
  • The largest group of U.S. veterans are now in their 50’s and 60’s.
  • As of 9/30/08, projected number of living WWII veterans 2,583,000.
  • 80,000 veterans who served after 9/11 were paying more than 50% of their income for rent.
  • Of the nearly 200,000 service members currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, more than 33,000 have been wounded.
